I'm Running BolderBOULDER Next Month!!

I've been here for less than 2 weeks, and the culture here already has me more motivated than ever about running. I feel like I may not have said this enough yet -- I LOVE IT HERE!!

Quickly, running conversations have ended up pointing me towards Boulder's most popular race, the BolderBOULDER 10k. I've never actually run a 10k for time before, and never really thought about signing up for one. But it came up in conversation so much already that I knew I would have massive regrets and feel left out if I didn't sign up. So I bit the bullet and did it. We'll just have to wait and see what my pace goals end up being.

The race is on Memorial Day. I think it's amazing that Boulder celebrates the holiday with the biggest 10k in the US. I especially love that it seems like the whole surrounding area is involved. It's like a full-day thing. There are tons of waves (over 100), and only the first 30 waves require qualifying. I was able to use my time from the Brooklyn Half Marathon last year to qualify for wave C in BolderBOULDER. There's a wave for everyone. From the elite, Olympian-types in wave A to the children walking in the final wave.

Read this excerpt from the BolderBOULDER website, and tell me if this doesn't get you pumped:

"Runner’s World doesn’t call this America’s All-Time Best 10K for nothing. Boulder knows how to party like we know how to run. We understand that sometimes running can be tough, but the BolderBOULDER is about having a great time. The experience includes an incredible pre-race Expo (with great sponsors and samples), live bands every quarter mile, food, cheering, craziness, costumes, more cheering, the world’s largest Memorial Day celebration and a post-race Expo the likes of which any “normal” 10K can’t compete."

The race ends in Colorado University's football stadium, making every finisher feel like a champion. Elite runners from all over the world come to Boulder to experience this race.

And it's right around the corner! Eeeek!!

What races are you excited about this season?
