Emotions. All the Emotions.

Pregnancy hormones are no joke.

Things that would normally make me chuckle make me laugh till I cry. Things that would normally bum me out feel like the worst thing in the whole world. Things that I normally think are weird are now horribly disgusting. Things that I normally think are cute are so unbearably adorable that they make me weep. Crying is going to be a big theme here.

Let's look at some examples, shall we?

Extreme Laughter

It's killing me that I can't find the meme that I saw that made me laugh so hard (if you can locate it, please tell me). Matt and I were laying around last weekend and I was reading a post about funny husband/wife conflict memes. The one that got me was set up like this:

  • Husband: Wife, where is the advil?
  • Wife: Oh, it's upstairs in the guest room stuck between the wall and the nightstand.

I lost it. This was so uncontrollably funny to me. The idea that the wife knows exactly where it is and that it's stuck somewhere, but doesn't move it into a drawer or even on top of the nightstand. She's content knowing that it's stuck between the wall and the nightstand. I laughed for several minutes, with tears streaming down my face. Matt was trying to show me cute puppy photos and I could not make myself stop laughing.

Extreme Cuteness

Matt and I went to see Guardians of the Galaxy 2, which has the Groot character as a baby. Gosh, he's so cute in that movie. Well, there's one scene where Rocket is trapped in a jail cell and is asking Groot to fetch something for him. Groot leaves and keeps coming back with the wrong thing over and over again. At one point, he brings this little emblem patch and tries to wear it as a hat. And then there's the following dialogue (note: Groot can only say "I am Groot," so Rocket acts as his interpreter):

  • Yondu: What? No!
  • Rocket: He thinks you want him to wear it as a hat.
  • Yondu: That's not what I said!
  • Groot: I am Groot.
  • Rocket: ...He's relieved you don't want him to.
  • Groot: I am Groot!
  • Rocket: ...He hates hats.
  • Groot: I am Groot...
  • Rocket: On anyone, not just himself.
  • Groot: I am Groot.
  • Rocket: One minute you think someone has a weird shaped head, next you realize it's because part of that head is shaped like a hat! (to Groot) That's why you don't like hats?!
  • Groot: (Nods)

I started laughing because of how adorable this scene was. The laughing turned into cry-laughing, which turned into regular crying, which turned into pretty heavy sobbing. The sobbing continued through several other non-sad scenes. I'm sure the lady next to me was really confused why I was crying so hard (like my dog died or something) during a comical movie.

Am I the only crazy out there? Can I get some pregnancy sympathy via stories in the comments to make me feel like I'm not the only one?

Hugs,
Bridget
