Happy Friday, everyone!!
For me, today feels like a Saturday because I'm in no rush this morning. My mom and my brother flew in for the weekend, so I took today off work.
They're still asleep right now, but we're going to head into Manhattan today. So many things to see, and such little time! And I don't want to overwhelm them.
I'll let you know how it goes.
But today, I'm sharing this weeks favorites. Enjoy the happy!
1. Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Quest Bars
If you can't tell already, I'm obsessed with cocolate chip cookie dough Quest Bars (but really Quest Bars in general). They taste so decadent, but they help me reach my daily protein goals! Each bar has 21g protein, 21g carbs, and 8g fat. If anyone knows somebody who knows somebody at Quest that can get me set up with a sponsorship, that would be super convenient cuz I plug their product all the time on my own -- it's just so yummy!!
2. Cool Fall Weather
I am pumped about this fall. Growing up in Texas, we don't really get seasons. The trees don't change colors like they do here. I love not sweating on my walk to the subway. I love that I can wear sweaters in September, and I love the crispness of the air. Today is a high of 65!! Yay!
3. My Own Desk
Y'all saw last week that I've been daydreaming about my own desk space for blogging, and now I have that! Matt and I used to share a desk, but this week he made his own. It turned out really cool. He made it with pipe and wood from Home Depot. He stained the wood to make it look older. I'm in the process of making my desk look cute, so bear with me.
4. Winning My Fantasy Football Game Against My Boss
I'm in a Fantasy Football league at work. There is definitely a learning curve for me, because I've never really been a big fan of football. For Matt's sake, I'm trying to learn. And I figured Fantasy would help me become more invested in games. It definitely did this week because I was matched up against my boss. All last week, we were smack-talking each other about the game, but on Monday, it was me who came in the door with a big grin on my face!
5. Small Group
Our church's small groups take the summer off. And since we moved here in April/May, we missed out on small groups this whole time that we've been here. They kicked off again last week, and we joined 20 other people inside an apartment in Crown Heights. It was fun to meet new people, and I'm excited for the group.
6. Mom and Madison are in NYC
My mom and my brother are in town for the weekend to hang out and see a bit of what our life looks like here. They're not big on the city, but I really appreciate that they're giving it a try for my sake! My dad had to stay home, which is really sad cuz I wish I could see him too. But I'll see him in November which is not too too long.
7. They Came Bearing Gifts
It was like Christmas in our apartment yesterday when my mom opened up her suitcase. She brought me two dresses (one from Nordstrom and one from Anthropologie), a belt (from Anthropologie), and the book #GirlBoss, which I've been dying to read.
Hope you have a great day!
