Like I said on Thursday in my 2014 Planning Starts Now blog, I've been working through the Susannah Conway Goal-Setting workbook - Unraveling the Year Ahead. I still have a couple blanks to fill in that I'm still pondering, but I wanted to share my major goals and wishes for 2014 with you guys today, giving you time to work on the workbook yourself before the start of the new year.

To set the stage, let's talk 2013. In my goal planning last year, I decided that my word for 2013 was "positivity," and man... was that challenged! 2013 was quite possibly the hardest year of my life, but I feel so blessed to have made it through (getting a concussion, apartment problems, financial struggle, both our cars getting stolen, my grandpa starting chemo, mom getting West Nile, etc.) It really just seemed like thing after thing was going wrong. This year I learned not only about optimism, but also about God's grace and mercy (Matt getting a scholarship, friends offering to help pay for seminary, both of our jobs in general, mom's healing, etc.). And also about His provision of daily bread. I learned to live off of little and to curtail frivolous spending. I learned to value time with family. I learned that as much as I want to control my life, I really have no control. I learned to trust God.

So for 2014, I chose the word "refresh." That word can apply to a lot of different goals and wishes I have for the new year:

  • Just general refreshment from the turmoil of 2013
  • Taking care of my body, skin, and teeth
  • Getting adequate rest
  • Drinking lots of water throughout the day
  • Refreshing my memory on subjects that I should still remember from high school (geography, history, etc.)
  • Giving myself the freedom to start anew, to try new things, to live my life differently

Those are some overarching goals that I have, but I also have more specific goals as well:

  • For the Blog
    • Blog ~3 times a week
    • Launch an Etsy shop for my stained glass jewelry
    • Get a new camera (Canon T3i)
    • Start filming videos for YouTube
    • Get blog business cards printed
    • Read at least 5 other people's blogs every day
    • For Myself
