I'm on my way out the door to present at my first ever event! The gals at Lovely Happenings invited me to present/hand out smoothie samples at their Pinterest-esque live event. I'm so excited and can't wait to meet everyone.
I thought it would be fun if I shared the smoothie recipe with all of you too.
This is a super fruity protein smoothie. I wanted it to taste as yummy as possible so that if this was anyone's first experience with protein powder that they would love it.
My goal is to encourage all of the women who attend to nourish their bodies for their workouts. We can't continue on with the "I workout so that I can eat junk and not gain weight" mindset. It's not healthy! Being thin isn't being healthy. You can have a healthy BMI and be unhealthy. Instead of always focusing on what our bodies look like, let's shift our focus onto what our bodies can do!
It's pretty amazing when you think about it -- what our bodies are capable of. Long distance running, dancing, inversions, healing itself, childbirth, etc. -- our bodies are pretty incredible. And they deserve to be loved and treated well.
So when you eat after a workout, don't think about it as what you can eat and still not get fat. Think about food as fuel -- fuel that will power your workouts so that your body will be capable of even more than it was the day before. Think about aging gracefully and feeling energized throughout the day.
Your body is amazing. Please treat it well and provide it with the nourishment it needs!
Anyways, here's the recipe:
- 1 scoop Quest Vanilla protein powder
- 1/2 cup fresh strawberries
- 1/4 cup fresh pineapple
- 1/2 cup frozen mango
- 1/2 cup coconut water
- 1/2 cup almond milk
Questions of the day:
How do you nourish your body? What are you up to this lovely Saturday morning?
