Spring is here, and that means that a lot of us are prepping for vacation time (yayy!!). Now we have all worked really hard to get our bodies into vacation shape, and it’s totally not worth it to blow all of that while you’re on vacation. I’m not saying to spend your whole vacation eating kale and working out, but make time in your schedule (maybe wake up early) to squeeze in a workout.
Here are 5 workouts you can do while you’re on vacation. They don’t require equipment or a gym.
1. Go for a simple walk/run
You can just do a steady state walk/run or you can throw some HIIT intervals in there. It’s totally up to you. Just get your blood pumping for at least 30 minutes.
2. Yoga in your hotel room
Your room probably has carpet, and that’ll made do if you don’t have a mat. One of the best things about yoga is that you don’t need fancy equipment to do it. You just need your body and your attention. If you have been doing yoga for a long time, try making up your own sequence. Do what feels right for your body. If you prefer having some guidance, you can try my morning yoga routine – it’s only 10 minutes long, and it’ll make you feel so dang good.
3. At home abs
Give my new abs workout a try. It only takes 8 minutes, and it will leave your abs burning! It’s just 3 sets of 8 exercises.
This is a crossfit-style workout that’s for As Many Reps As Possible (AMRAP) in 20 minutes. You can do whatever warm up you want – even just a couple sets of 25 jumping jacks. Then when you get to the workout, do the circuit as many times as you can within 20 minutes.
This one will take you a while and it will leave you SO sore the next day. So if you want to do this one, don’t schedule it before a long day of sight seeing. Schedule it the day before you go to see a play or go try a new restaurant-- because you may be hobbling after this one.
There are tons of options out there. You can just search “at home workout” on YouTube and find tons of results. Just make sure you wake up and get your workout in!
