How far along: 31 weeks + 1 day
How big is baby: the size of an otter (minus the tail), a foam finger, a croquembouche, or an asparagus (16in, 3.5lbs)
Status: I am very tired of being pregnant. 40 weeks is an eternity. I feel like I've been pregnant for an entire year already. I'm at the point where tying my shoes feels like it should be an Olympic event and when I drop things on the ground, sometimes I just leave them there because it's not worth it to try to pick it back up. I also feel like I'm forgetting what my body normally looks like.
Coolest developments: Baby can turn his head now and his eyes can react to changes in light.
Best moments this week: This was a best and worst at the same time -- I had to do the 3hr glucose test on Saturday, which was terrible. Basically, you fast for 12 hours, then go to the lab and they take a blood sample. Then you drink an awful, really sugary drink as fast as you can, wait an hour, and they take your blood again. Wait another hour, and they take it again. Wait a final (3rd) hour, and they take it again. I'm terrible with needles/blood. I tend to pass out with this kind of stuff. I was especially afraid because Matt was out of town, and he normally would have come with me to something like this. Thankfully, my best friend was in town and was willing to sit with me in the hospital for 3.5 hours. That's real friendship, right there. So despite having to lay on the floor for an hour because I thought I was going to pass out and/or vomit, and despite getting stuck 4 times with needles, it was great to know that I have real friends who are willing to spend their entire Saturday morning with me at an appointment.
How I've felt in my workouts: I was really lazy/busy this past week and didn't get to do the workouts I had planned to do. I had a friend in town and Matt was in NYC, so I didn't have backup with home/dog stuff. I had fully intended to do a hard workout on Sunday after church, once my friend had left, but I just didn't have it in me. I took a nap instead. With all the travel and everything of the past few weeks, I just needed a breather. I'll get back at it this week.
Symptoms: Feeling huge. Trouble getting comfortable in bed. Bloody nose. Tiredness. Shortness of breath. Heartburn.
Things we bought for baby: We used gift cards to get the final essentials this past week -- the car seat stroller adapter, the extra crib sheet, and the rock n' play.
What we're up to: Finally, a week of normal life! We don't have any more guests coming until after the baby is born, and we're grounded from flying for a while too. We do have one local trip to Breckenridge in September, but just for a few days, and that's not very far away driving.
Prayer Requests: My ability to enjoy these last 9 weeks of pregnancy instead of just complaining about how big and uncomfortable and weak I am. Also, good results on my 3hr test.
