Why I Run

I am a long-time runner. I ran track in middle school and high school and I've run a full and a half marathon. While I don't run crazy distances these days, I still love running. Something about it feels like home to me. I love the crunchy gravel underneath my Nikes and the clean feeling in my lungs as I begin to breathe more deeply in the fresh air. Yes, it can be torture sometimes -- especially in these Texas summer months, but it's a must for me. I love making the time to improve my speed/endurance/agility and not having to think about the worries or concerns of the day. My runs are for me. And doesn't it feel so good after?

Listen to your body (if it's too hot or you are injured), but try to make some time to run today. I mean... you have to celebrate the holiday!
