While I was waiting for a friend of mine to get out of spin class, I stopped by Juice Generation on 3rd Avenue and 84th (Upper East Side). Whoever picked this location was brilliant, because it's right next to Soul Cycle.
When I walked in, there was a line of Lululemon-clad spinners out the door. Looking at the menu, the prices are crazy high in comparison to a Smoothie King or even Jamba Juice -- I'm talking 8 bucks for a smoothie. They seem to pride themselves in quality organic ingredients and have a big following in the raw food community.
Since I had just completed a workout myself (30min HIIT stairs) I ordered the Protein Buzz --blueberries, bananas, raspberries, almond milk, and soy protein. You could really taste the freshness, and you could also taste that they didn't add in all the sugary crap that Smoothie King uses-- bleck!
Moral of the story -- the smoothie was worth it.
I also ordered a little protein bar (Raw Crunch - Chocolate), thinking the smoothie wouldn't be enough to keep me feeling full for the night. That was a mistake. I grabbed a bar, thinking it would be like less than two bucks. Nope. These bars are expensive and they kind of taste/feel like bird food. I would definitely rather have a Quest Bar.
Have any of y'all been here? What did you order and what did you think?
